Business & Office Removals

Army Ants Removals are proud to hold the current contract with NHS England for the Lancashire area. These moves are primarily building closures as the NHS no longer need the buildings as a lot of staff work from home now following COVID.

Each building is visited by Anthony and the survey is conducted to cover all aspects of the move such as volume, crate count, method statement, risk assessment, building access and more. A lot of the NHS tables, meeting tables and chairs are used by other sites across Lancashire so we basically transport these goods and set them out to plan. Some projects are single day moves with two staff and one van and other projects have included up to 10 staff, HGV vehicles and smaller vehicles with careful planning.

Our latest large project was to disembark from Jubilee House in Leyland Preston. You may recognise the location if you attended a speeding awareness session, this was the building that we had to totally empty. The items of stock were split between two different destinations, Chorley and one on the same site. Again careful planning, site maps and inventories had to be produced for this move with a detailed schedule of works.

On the same site 2 months prior we moved the chief executives office of the NHS from Chorley House to Lancashire County Council CCP 4th floor. As we have attained good knowledge of working within County Hall for Lancashire County Council the site was pretty easy in relation to the method statement and access. The layout consisted of an open floor for 60 staff members who were seated at the new i-bench systems that we erected and 5 meeting rooms. This project went perfectly carried out to plan and was signed off with a big thank you from our friend at the NHS - Jenny.

In November 2023 Army Ants Removals were invited to quote a full 4 storey building dilapidation, this involved clearing the whole building of all stock, desks, chairs, printers, pedestals any associated items to be either given to charity or to be recycled.

On the initial survey it was identified that there was 520 wood and metal desks which would need separating, and a vast amount of office chairs which needed the foam removing for environmental purposes. Each room then had to be cleaned and hoovered ready for the new occupier before the 22nd of December 2023.

The whole job was carefully project managed by Anthony Walmsley who was in close contact with the director of the company during and after business hours. Army Ants arranged for 5 large skips to be delivered to the property in Bamber Bridge. In regards to the area where the skips were going to be situated, we had to protect the current brickwork with OSB boards. Once the area was protected we could then arrange for the skips to be delivered.

With regards to the dilapidation plans, our aim was to dismantle in place, utilise roller cages where the metal and the wood could be split on site and distributed between the two skips. For the IT equipment Anthony arranged for a local accredited metal waste contractor to join us on site and as we were bringing the items down he could separate his ferrous metals for recycling.

The entire project was split over 5 days with 8 staff on all days, with the risk assessment and method statements having to be extremely accurate as there were other service users on the same site which were using the same transfer route. As you can imagine the right thing to do was to send an internal email to every staff member to make them aware of our movements throughout our project days.
